Coming back to work after a 3 day weekend is so much harder than after a 2 day weekend…but I’m here and surviving.
I did enjoy my 3 days off. Friday we ran a lot of errands and looked for a dress for me to wear to my sister’s baby shower next month. We also saw “The Taking of Pelham 123” which was pretty good. It hasn’t gotten good reviews but I liked it.
Saturday we watched the Nationals win against the Braves!!! The Nats don’t win very often…they are one of the worst teams in MLB so it was exciting that they won a game! After the game we went out with my friend from work and hung out for a few hours then headed to see the fireworks. The show was shorter this year than it usually is and our view wasn’t the best but watching fireworks over the Washington Monument is a DC only event.
On Sunday we hit up the grocery store. In the summer, I buy so much produce because it all looks so good! I try to only buy what we will eat but it’s hard to restrain myself! We had tickets to the Nationals game but didn’t end up going since there was a forecast of rain. Instead we saw “Public Enemies.” At first, I didn’t think I was going to like the movie but as it progressed, I liked the movie more. Not my favorite movie but it was still good. I also found a dress for my sister’s baby shower!!! Now for shoes.
Did you catch that there was no talk of a long run? That’s because I didn’t do one. The more I thought about it, the more I knew that I needed to take the weekend off from running. My hip bothering me is most likely an overuse injury, meaning that I need to stop using it. I also have 4 extra weeks in my marathon training which I planned so that if I needed to rest one weekend I could. I made the smart decision and didn’t run. Tomorrow I’m planning on a 3 miler but I’ll stop if my hip tells me to.

I know exactly what you mean about restraining yourself in the produce section this time of year!
There’s just so much yummy stuff for so cheap!!
I think you’re making a good decision by listening to your body in regards to the running.
